Supporting Students Through Academic Pressure

Academic Pressure

A message from Dual Diploma on World Suicide Prevention Day

Today is World Suicide Prevention Day, and it feels like the right moment to pause and acknowledge something many students may be all too familiar with. It’s none other than the academic pressure they face, be it from peers, parents, or society at large.

Academic pressure is one of the heaviest burdens students carry today. According to Pew Research, 61% of teens say it’s the hardest stressor they face, well above social pressure to fit in (28%) or to look good (29%). A meta-analysis of 52 studies, published by the National Institutes of Health, found that too much academic stress is directly linked to anxiety, depression, and burnout. This data shows us why the people around a student matter so much.

At Dual Diploma, the staff prioritize student wellbeing above all else. Every student is treated as a whole person, with care and empathy, not just a transcript. That’s the kind of supportive learning environment Dual Diploma wants to create.

Choosing to pursue two diplomas takes real courage, and that kind of ambition deserves to be admired. But no grade, no GPA, no achievement is worth more than how a student is actually doing. Mental health comes first. Always.

If you or someone you know is struggling, help is out there, and reaching for it is a strong thing to do. Nobody should have to carry academic pressure, or anything heavier than that, alone.
